Year 2 News

Well done to our shinning star last week - Sam

Please check your child's book bag as they have come home with lots of letters to night.

We have started learning our journey story this week. The children are really enjoying. They are looking forward to bringing their story map so they can tell you the story. We are trying to make sure that when writing our handwriting is neat and that every sentence has a capital letter and full stop. This is our focus during our morning work. More children are reading at home this week and we are hoping for a record number of children in the reading raffle.

We our finishing our addition and subtraction unit this week. Please continue to support your child with the column method and some children find this tricky and need adult support to talk them through.

Year 2 - Christmas Make It Day - Friday 29th November - please see letter home for more details.

Have a good week.

Year 2

Hope you have had a great weekend.

Filip was our shining star last week. Well done.

Please remember that all children can wear odd socks tomorrow and that they need to bring a sock into school so they can make a sock puppet.

In maths we are working hard to understand  and use the column method. Ask the children to show you what they can do.

In our afternoon sessions we have started to learn about The Great Fire of London. The children are really excited about this.

Our focus is on reading. Please make sure your child is reading at least five times a week. It is really showing in our guided reading sessions the ones who are not reading at home.

Have a lovely week.

Year 2

Molly is our shining Star this week. Well done

We have had 14 children in the reading raffle this week. We could have had lots more but they had missed it by one. Remember read at least once over the weekend and then every school night. Fingers crossed for more next week.

We have finished our English work on Defeating a baddie story. The children have written their final story today. On Monday we move on to our next unit of work which is instructions.

We have been busy this week understanding part, part whole in Maths and how we can use this method to help us with our fact families. Ask the children to show you.

The children will complete their art projects next week. They are very eager to draw a self portrait. Look out next week on the blog I will add their art work.

Thank you for your support. Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday

Money, Money, Money!

Remember, during the holidays if you play on Times Tables Rockstars and Spelling Shed twice a week and also complete the 4 challenges on Mathletics then you'll receive your first Golden Smiley when you return in September and now they'll have a value so you'll be able to save your rewards for prizes throughout the year!

Also, remember to READ, READ, READ! "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." (Dr Seuss)
