Hi, it has been another busy week in Year 4. We have been working on speech marks and writing speech in English. We have used this work to produce some drama today as part of 'keeping active' for Stand up Bolsover.
We had 15 children entered into the reading raffle this week, let's see if we can beat this next week 💪💪
Have a fantastic weekend. Looking forward to another fabulous week.
Keep Smiling 😄😄

Year 2 Harvest Festival Work
Today we have been talking about the Harvest Festival Celebration. What it is. How it is celebrated, and why we celebrate it. Ask your children all about it, it would be great to hear what they have learnt. On Monday we began our Harvest Festival preparation by looking at different types of fruit and cutting them open to see what they looked like inside. We then created some observational drawing/ painting of the fruits thinking carefully about pattern, shape and colours. Here are some of the beautiful pieces of art work they created. Can you tell what they are?
And today we have used a variety of different fruits to make milkshakes and smoothies. We did this to show that once fruits are harvested, they can be used further to make other things to eat and drink as well as be eaten in its purest form. Here are a few photographs from our afternoon...
Ask your children what the milkshakes and smoothies tasted like and what fruits they could taste?

Year 2 Can do it!
Today we talked about why we go outdoors and be active in the afternoon. The children loved the idea of keeping fit, and some children said they were playing 'keep fit' at lunchtime. This is great to hear! Look at how much effort our children put in today whilst being active - well done everyone!
We discussed different ways to travel and keep going during our outdoor active time. The children loved the idea of running together. They also suggested; skipping, jumping, hopping, jogging or even walking. Our class goal is to not stop and keep moving, being active, in some way!
Keep up your hard work!
Miss Kerry, Mrs Elliott and Miss Honeybun :)
Year 3 Marvellous Mirrors
This afternoon we have used a mirror to reflect light and explained how mirrors work.
We know that some surfaces reflect light better than others.
We used the following page to play a game. The children enjoyed it and asked for the details so they can play at home.

We have played two different games using mirrors.

2. Mirror Maze

Year 2 Homework
Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is Year 2 Spelling Test day... either tonight or in the morning please have a final practice with your child/ children at their spellings from this week. Its really important that we have a big push on spelling!
This week everyone in year 2 have been allocated some games to consolidate their Maths learning on Abacus Evolve. Google: Abacus Evolve and log in with your child's personal log in details to see what activities have been allocated. So far there should be some on: estimating, ordering numbers and number bonds to 10 and 100.
The children who have already engaged with these activities have received Pride Points.
Well done to Kaiden, Max and Keagan for making a start :)
Any children who do not have the opportunity to access the internet at home, will be given the chance to access the school laptops one lunchtime.
Many thanks, Miss Kerry and Mrs Elliott :)
