Year 5 News

Well done to the children who completed and returned their homework this week!  It's a record number so keep it up everyone.  Let's see if we can beat it next week.  The children have been given some homework to rehearse the use of apostrophes and some maths in which they can practise making fact families.  They have also been given a user name and password to use Abacus Active Learn.

They have the instructions stuck in their reading diaries along with their usernames.  If anyone has forgotten the password, they can ask me again on Monday.  I have kept hold of the usernames for those children who didn't have their reading diaries in school on Friday.  When they bring their diaries to school on Monday, they can stick the information in then.  You can find the login page here: https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0.  Once logged in, the children should find some games which will help them rehearse the skills we have been working on in Maths.  I will add new games regularly so keep an eye out.  And you can play the games over and over again so that you get even better at each mathematical concept.  I can see that Gracie, Eric and Tear have already been on and completed some of the games.  One Pride Point each for you three!

This week we had 6 super spellers.  Next week's spellings will be the ones the children have struggled with over the last two weeks.  As they already have these in their reading diaries, they can get off to a head start by having an extra practice over the weekend.

It's a busy week ahead...
  • Some of the choir will be visiting The Grange on Tuesday.
  • We will be visiting the church for a carol service on Wednesday.
  • Party day is on Thursday.  Children should come to school in uniform as usual and bring party clothes to change into in the afternoon if they want to.
  • School closes at 2pm on Friday.
  • School reopens as usual on Monday, 7th January.
