Year 1 Thumb Pots

This afternoon the children have been enjoying making some clay flower pots as part of our topic work on plants.
The children had to roll their lump of clay in to a ball and then push their thumb in to the top to make a hole. The next step was to pinch the sides with their thumb and fingers. Once they had made the sides of the pot they made three holes in the bottom. Finally the children used modelling tools to make patterns and they made clay flowers and shapes to decorate their pots.
