What a busy final week in Year 5!
DHL came to visit with one of their trucks. We learnt all about the perils of playing near trucks and the road and learnt about some ways to keep safe. Some lucky children even got to sit in the cab!
We did our final performances of "The Piper". I hope you managed to come and see the show and enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks for helping by providing costumes for your children.
And get ready for next year when these budding actors take on the leading roles!
We managed to all get 5 golden smilies and had our class reward. We recreated some forest school activities and the children who took part in the forest school activities last week shared their experiences with the rest of the class.
And at the leavers assembly, Eric won our class' Joan Hawley Shield. All the children agreed he was a worthy winner. Get ready for next year's awards - there are a few to go at!
On Monday, the children should come to Year 5 as usual. They will move to their new classroom and teacher after assembly and should be collected from the door further along the playground where Year 6 have been released from this year. As always, they will need their book bags, reading diaries and PE kits. Most children have handed in their reading books but should still be reading - they can read any book from home and get their diary signed. A couple of children still have school reading books at home. Please have a good look this weekend and return them on Monday morning. Any lost books can be paid for at the office or in the classroom.
There is no homework this weekend but please continue to use Spelling Shed, Times Tables Rock Stars and Mathletics. I'm sure Mrs Bush will be checking to see who has spent some time practising maths and spellings in preparation for the move to Year 6!
And finally, it's been a great year with a great bunch of kids! Mrs Bradbury and I have loved every minute and will be sad to see you go. All we ask is that you keep working hard and do your absolute best in everything you do - next year and with whatever you get up to in the future. Just remember to BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE!
