HALLOWEEN DISCO THANK YOU 😄

A big thank you goes out to everyone involved in helping to put on our first Halloween Disco for the children of Model Village Primary School. THANK YOU to all the PARENTS who bought tickets and let the children come and join in the fun at the disco!
First of all a huge thank you to the parent group (Michelle, Sonia and Amie) that helped to plan, organise and decorate the School hall. The parent group also went to businesses to help get donations for the School raffle and for decorations. Thank you to the local Co-op, Aldi and Mr Gascoyne for raffle donations. Also, thank you to some of our parents and family members for donating decorations too.
Secondly, to our great kitchen staff that sourced special and extra food helping in their own time to serve at the disco, thank you Mandy and Debbie, the children loved the food.
A special thank you to all the members of staff that stayed late in their own time to help chaperone and enjoy time with the children at the disco, without the man power and team work from everyone this would not have been possible.
And last but not least, thank you to the great DJ from 'Vision Entertainment' for doing a great 'Spooktacular' disco totally free for the children of Model Village Primary School.

With all of this generosity we have managed to raise £450 for our School. This will be instantly used to buy new Reading books and also be used towards the next fun event for the children of MVPS.

                                                          Well done to everyone

Year 5 News

Well done to our certificate winner Emanuil for some fantastic writing this week and to Boyd for being chosen as a winner of the reading raffle.  We managed a record 26 readers on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Let's see if we can beat this on the first day back after the holidays.  Keep reading Year 5 and be ready to write some interesting book reviews when we return to school (unless you want to do your own in the holidays!).  Perhaps we can add some more of our red leaves to the reading tree.

This week we had 9 super spellers!  Well done to Gracie, Oskar, Grace, Kian, Eric, Stan, Julia, Boyd and Blake.  Especially well done as the test was done a day early!

This term, Stan returned his homework on time every week.  Brilliant Stan.  Make sure this week's homework is completed and returned on the first Wednesday after half term so that we can make a great start to the new term.

After half term we will start our first history topic with some work about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.  If your child wants to, they might start some learning about this over half term so that we can hit the ground running when we return to school.  Look out for the date of our upcoming class assembly which we plan to base around our history work.

Have a great half term and we will see you all bright and early on Monday 5th November!

Year 4

Well done to those children who were in the reading raffle on Friday!
It is lovely to see some of the children who weren't regular readers, start to enjoy reading at home and start to get into the reading raffle- keep it up! Let's aim for a full house this week. So remember to read tonight and make a good start.

I have been looking on the times tables rockstars website today and seeing which children are regular users. Please remind your child their username and password is written on the inside page of their diary. This is a fantastic resource and all the children like playing the games whilst learning their times tables. By the end of Year 4, the children need to know up to 12 x 12. They have made a great start in class and would make further progress if they practised them at home too.
See you all tomorrow,

Mrs Manders, Miss Richardson and Mrs Peters

Year 6 News

Well Done Year 6!
Image result for super clip art

Amazingly, we had 28 children in the reading raffle this week so well done if you were one of them! We had the highest number in the whole school! Also a huge well done to Harley as he was the winner of our class certificate this week for a big improvement in his attitude towards his learning. Well done Harley - keep it up!

I'd just like to remind children and parents that it's very important that children are reading their school reading book that they have chosen as this gives them an appropriate level of challenge within their own range. It's great to read other books too but I do want to see more children reading and changing their school book more often.

Please remember too, PE is on a Monday and Thursday and appropriate kit is expected in school on these days. A plain t-shirt, shorts, joggers or plain leggings along with pumps or trainers are suitable.
Also, maths homework is due on Thursdays and sentences on Fridays; these should be completed to the best of your ability and neatly presented.

Many Thanks

Mrs Bush and Mrs Carney

Year 5 news

This week we have 7 super spellers - Gracie, Grace, Eric, Tear, Stan, Julia and Sonny who all got 12 out of 12.  We also had lots of children who got their personal best score which shows how much they have practiced this week.

Next week we are aiming for a big improvement in the number of children who read so please encourage your child to read over the weekend and every day next week.  How many will get into the reading raffle I wonder!

Thanks for your help in improving our attendance this week.  We ended the week on 95% which is a great improvement on last week.  Let's see if we can be even better next week!

Well done to certificate winner Gracie who has been showing great confidence in maths this week.  Keep it up Gracie!

This week we have planned a scientific investigation to find out which materials are electrical conductors.  Here are some of the children testing out their predictions.

Don't forget that our final Bikeability session will be on Friday so children will need to bring their bikes and helmets on the day.  Fingers crossed for a dry day!

Year 3

Well done to Harvey for being our Pride winner this week.

We had 19 children in the reading raffle this week. We missed our target by one person. The children are eager to beat this next week. Remember they must read at least once over the weekend and then every school night.

We still have the best class attendance for the school. A few year groups are catching us up though. Fingers crossed for  good attendance and no children turning up late this coming week. The children would love to win the film and popcorn afternoon.

Mini models news

This week in Mini Models we have moved on to a new book that we are looking at. The children are enjoying Old Mac Donald and are learning all the animals and sounds they make. We have also done a lot of work on our colours and numbers. Singing number songs at circle time and talking about the colours of the animals in our farm pictures.

Here are some photos of the fun we have had in Mini models this week.
