Year 5 News

Calling all Year 5s!  A new Mathletics game has been assigned to you.  It will allow you to rehearse the skills of adding mentally and then adjusting, e.g. if you need to add 99p, add £1 and then take one off ("Ooops!  I added too many!").  Don't forget to get some paper and a pen ready to help you with any jottings you need to make.  And remember that you are not timed for this game so take all the time you need.  You have until Wednesday at 4pm to play this game!  Good luck!

Year 5 News

Well done to Miley for being this week's star of the week for her writing.  We've been writing stories about monsters - can your child tell you what their story was about?  When we get back to school after Easter, we have one more monster story to write.  It would be great if the children could start thinking of where their story might take place, what their monster might look like and what might happen so that they can get on with getting their ideas down on paper in the first week back.

What a lot of super spellers we had this week!  Gracie, Oskar, Molly, Eric, Amelia, Millie, Stan, Julia, Sonny, Boyd, Blake, Wesley and Lily. We also had lots of children who were almost there with 9 out of 10.  Keep on practising those spellings next term to get great results.

Well done also to Emanuil, Tear, Stan, Miley, Sonny, Ellie, McKenzie, Peyton and Neil who have all achieved 100% attendance this term.

Year 3 Update...

This week the whole class had a special mention in assembly for being so focused and motivated to master the Grid Method to solve Multiplication problems. A very big well done to everyone!

Individual special mentions went to: Sophie and Alix.

Sophie always tries her very best to present her work beautifully. Her work is so lovely to read and mark - keep it up Sophie!

Alix has blown our socks off this week, in all his learning, he has been very motivated! He workled independently to solve Multiplication problems in Maths and in English has cared about his handwriting - which is showing progress.Well done!

Our Golden Award Winner this week is awarded to Anya.
She works consistently well at school and at home with her reading. Recently, in guided reading she has been more confident to answer questions asked of her in more detail. Keep it up - well done!

This week only 11 children made it into the reading raffle. The number of children in the raffle were down quite a few on last week. Please ensure that your child is reading daily at home and it is recorded in their diaries :)

On a high, this week has been the BEST spelling results so far since I have taken over in Year 3. The majority of the class were successful achieving 10/10 and those that didn't quite make it achieved 9/10 or  8/10. Well done! I wonder if we can work together as a class and do the same next week? Remember a little practise every day will help. Work hard because you have one day less to learn them.

This week, we have been preparing for the Easter celebration. In class we have designed an Easter Bonnet - following Mick Yates special Easter Bonnet Assembly. Last week, your child brought home their own design and was asked to make their Easter Bonnet at home - as their homework task. Your child has been asked to bring in their Bonnet on Thursday 11th April (the last day of school before breaking up) so that we can share them with each other.
I hope this clarifies any queries any parents have around this. If not please pop in school early next week so that your child/ children don't miss out on the sharing opportunity.

Have a lovely weekend.
See you all on Monday, Miss Kerry and Mrs Doyle :)

Year 1 Good News

During our whole school celebration assembly this morning special mentions were given to Olly B, Justin and Sam.
Olly and Sam have worked well together this week when counting in amounts of money by counting in tens. Olly has also confidently been sharing lots of super ideas during our English lessons.

Well done to Bobby, Milly, Olly N, Nyla-Jae, Jan and Molly who also achieved full marks in their spelling test.

Darcie was awarded the Golden Star certificate this week. She is trying really hard with her writing and is trying to be more independent when completing her English work.

Fifteen children were entered into the reading raffle today. Please keep listening to your children read and signing their reading logs. It would be nice if we could get past 20 again!

Entered in to the Raffle this week were: Justin

😊 , Georgia, Sienna, Milly, Soni, Archie, Olly N, Nyla-Jae, Sam, Brayden-Lee, Molly, Theo, Marni and Reid.
