Year 5 News

What a busy week we've had!  We've been busy preparing for out summer performance of The Piper.  Remember to request your tickets for the shows on Tuesday at 1:45 and Thursday at 10:00.  Only two children have brought their outfits so far.  We really need these for Monday morning so that we can make sure everything works in our costumes.  Children can bring a dark (black, grey, brown) outfit and dress as a rat or they can wear smart clothes such as a party dress or smart shirt and dress as a villager.  Please send costumes in a named bag on Monday morning.

We also had sports day.  Always a fun day and great to see the children give it their all.  Thanks for your support in coming to cheer your children along.  We did have a few burnt faces on Friday morning though so please bear in mind that your child may need to wear sun cream for school if this hot weather keeps up.

Some children were lucky enough to take part in a forest school's event with some children from some other schools.  We came back with the things we had made along with some muddy faces!

Our certificate winner was Callum who was chosen for always making good choices and setting a good example.  He was joined by Grace, Sonny, Molly, Tear and Grace who have been working hard as actors in the show but also making sure they catch up on their school work.

On Monday, the school has a visit from DHL and we will have the opportunity to take part in some workshops.  You are also invited along from 2:30.

We're doing a great job on Spelling Shed - at the moment we're the class at the top of the leader board.  Stan is topping the class chart, followed by McKenzie.  I can see that Alfie and McKenzie have been practising this weekend.  We didn't get chance to do our test on Friday so the children have today to practise some more before our test tomorrow.  For this reason, the children have not brought home any new spellings this weekend.  They do however have their very last piece of Year 5 homework!

Next week will be our last week in Year 5.  Let's see if we can get our best attendance yet Year 5!
