Year 3 News

First of all a huge apology for not being able to BLOG for a few weeks - I have had technical issues logging in. However, the problem seems to be fixed now so your regular updates will be pinging through!

I will begin by saying a huge well done to Corey our certificate winner last week! Well done Corey, keep up your keen approach to learning.

This week, our certificate winner, was Max. This week Max has really blown me away with his general attitude towards school and his learning. You have had a fantastic week Max and I hope this can continue into future weeks. This week it has been great to see you so focused and be proud to have achieved such a lovely piece of persuasive writing independently. Keep it up!

Our special mentions go to:
Kenya - for her marvellous maths work! Her attitude and concentration recently has improved which is having a big impact on her attainment. Well done!
Tsvetomir - for having a more focused week, with less fussing! This week you have tried hard to listen to instructions given and get on with the activity being set by yourself. Keep it up!

Unfortunately, we only had 9 children make it into the reading raffle this week. However, another 4 children were very close only achieving 4/5 stamps. We have set ourselves a target this week to reach 15 children in the reading raffle, c'mon year 3 - WE CAN DO IT!

On a much more positive note, since the launch of our new Spelling program 'Spelling Shed' and there now being a prize up for grabs for children who achieve 10/10 on their spellings, collectively spelling test results have improved a great deal. Well done to every one of you!
Please find a log in to spelling shed in your children's reading records (on the front or back cover) there are games that your children can play and ways of getting your children practising their weekly spellings on there. The more you practise the more points you get! Lets hope the children's performances continue!

This term PE days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please make sure you have your kit in school on these days - PE is a very important part of the school curriculum.
This week, however, I ask for PE kits to be in school ALL week due to Sports Day preparation and practises.

Healthy Eating Week
This week has been Healthy Eating Week, in year 3 we have been learning about the 'Eatwell Plate.' Talking about having a balanced meal and what foods fit within each food group. Also, we have been speaking about the importance of having '5 a day' five fruits, vegetables or salad a day to keep our bodies healthy. Because the children have been superstars this week and to thank them for their efforts and contributions around their healthy eating activities, yesterday we had the opportunity to set up, prepare and make a fruit salad face. The children really enjoyed this activity and were very keen to show you what they could do with fruits this weekend. Year 3 showed great teamwork tidying up and cleaning the classroom afterwards. Well done!

Have a great weekend, Miss Kerry :)
