Year 6 News

A huge well done to Dray for winning the Year 6 certificate this week for regular reading at home. He looks so proud!

I'm also sad to announce the last week at MVPS for Year 6! It will be so sad to see them leave but they are more than ready. Just a reminder for the week ahead:

Tuesday 3rd July - 1.45pm KS2 Performance
Wednesday 4th July - 10.00am KS2 Performance
Friday 6th July - 10.00am Leavers Assembly (Don't forget the tissues!)

There will be a raffle at both of the KS2 Performances (£1 a strip) so don't forget your loose change!

See you there!

Mini models news

We have enjoyed the sunshine this week in mini models with lots of outdoor play.

This week we did some messy play in the conditioner. We talked about how it felt on our hands and what it smelt like, some of the children thought it smelt like chocolate. The children particularly like to clap there hands together so that the shaving foam splatted between their hands.

Water play has been popular this week. We have been doing lots of scooping and pouring with the watering cans and cups.

Here are more photos of our week and the fun we have been having.

Happy Birthday Davey!

As you may have heard, Davey's first birthday is coming up and we have decided he needs to have a party!

We are planning to hold the party in the afternoon of Thursday, 5th July.  The children are helping to plan it all so please talk to your child about some of the following things and encourage them to share their ideas with us at school.

  • Cake.  We are going to hold a cake design competition.  We plan to bake the cake and then decorate it according to the winning design.
  • Decorations.  The children have talked about balloons and bunting so far.
  • Party hats.  We hope to make our hats with inspiration from Davey with pink and green card and lots of glitter.
  • Party games.  So far we have musical statues, musical chairs, musical bumps and pass the parcel on the list.
  • Disco.  It has been suggested we have a  disco ball and music.  The songs suggested so far are "Havana" by Camila Cabello, "Genie In A Bottle" by Christina Aguilera, "Shotgun" by George Ezra, "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen, "Castle On The Hill" by Ed Sheeran, "Let It Shine" by Take That, "House Every Weekend" by Davie Zowie and "The Gummy Bear Song".
  • Food.  The children have suggested buffet food such as sausage rolls, pizza, sandwiches, crisps and cakes.
  • Presents and cards.  We can make some cards in school but what Davey would like as a present?
  • Birthday chair.  How should we decorate it?
  • Party clothes.  Children will be able to bring some party clothes to change into for the afternoon.  They should come to school in uniform.

If you think you can help with any of the above, please let us know by speaking to us, sending an email (hayleydavis@modelvillage.derbyshire.sch.uk) or leaving a comment on the Facebook link to this blog post.  Maybe you have a disco ball we could borrow, a CD we could use or perhaps you would be able to donate some crisps, drinks or sausage rolls!  Or maybe you have an idea we haven't thought of so far...

Year 2 News

Last week Kia-Mae was our class Pride certificate winner. She worked well as part of a team to organise and lead an activity ordering and comparing positive and negative numbers. Well done, keep up the good work!

Also the 200 club badges came last week and were presented to the 200 club winners in assembly. Well done to Tillie and Sophie for reaching the 200 club this year. I wonder if you will do it next year too?

Yesterday was a very exciting day for us at MVPS. We were very lucky to have a visit from an Olympic Swimmer called James Kirton. Everyone in the school took part in a sports circuit throughout the morning and really enjoyed keeping fit and being healthy by working out. Year 2 really enjoyed themselves, here are a few pictures from the morning.

Thank you in advance to anyone who has collected sponsors for their children. Monies are due in on Monday 2nd July 2018. We ask for the money to be sent in an envelope labelled with your child/ children's name so that it makes it easier to collect. The monies can be sent to your child's class teacher or to Mrs Holmes or Mrs Lynch the main office.
A special mention to two children in our class who James awarded wrist bands to: Alix and Eliza. Alix was awarded for not giving up when he found something difficult to do to begin with. Also Eliza was awarded with a wrist band due to her efforts for participating and support for others regardless of having a poorly arm.

Just a quick reminder to everyone that it has given an extremely hot week this week. Please ensure your children have sun cream on and have hat in school that they can wear when they go outdoors.
Thank you! :)  Miss Kerry :)
