Year 2 News...

In year 2 we are proud of everyone! This week the children have worked so hard and have been an absolute pleasure to teach - well done everyone!

This week our class certificate goes to Corey. Throughout the term it has been pleasing to see Corey increasingly put more effort into his work and give 100% into everything he approaches.
Huge congratulations!

Well done Jake, Eliza, Anya and River for reaching 25 Pride Points this week! Keep up the hard work! Moving on to 50 Pride Points next...

Also congratulations to Tillie, Sophie and Harvey for zooming ahead on Pride Points reaching 50 this week, achieving their Bronze Certificate.
Next stop 100 Pride points!

This week, in the weekly reading raffle we only had 8 children out of 27 that read a little each night at home. We can do better than that :) Remember we can do it! Lets hope for better results next week!

On a brighter note... this week we have assessed your child against their book band colour and can assure you that your child is reading material that matches their ability. The assessment takes in to consideration your child's reading ability, as well as their understanding of what is being read. If your child hasn't yet moved on yet it may be due to them not being able to answer questions about a text that has been read - so when you can ask them questions to develop that skill.

Please can I take this opportunity to remind you of our class Library service we are offering on Friday Mornings 8.30 - 8.45, where children in year 2 can come and choose a book to share at home. This book doesn't have to match your child's reading level but will go a long way developing their 'reading for pleasure.'

Has your child told you that we are level pegging at the Attendance Award for this term? We are on 7 points just like year 5, so the competition is on... and it's down to the final week of this term. Year 2 really want it. C'mon let's pull together and get year 2 the treat they deserve... film and popcorn!
Attendance really matters! :)

Thank you to everyone who supported their children with their spellings last week. The spelling test showed better results from everyone! Keep working hard, practicing your new spellings that are in your child/ children's homework/ reading log. The next spelling test will be Tuesday of next week!

Also on Friday I sent home - a miniature project homework. Your child has until the end of term to choose a country, research it and present their findings in form of a poster. I have provided suitable paper in your child's homework log, and for those children who didn't have them in school I have sent paper home for the activity.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, see you next week!
Miss Kerry, Mrs Elliott and Miss Honeybun. :)
