This week in English we have been planning our own story based upon the text 'Meerkat Mail.' The children have had some fantastic ideas for: characters, places the character could visit and the reasons they might like and dislike the places they visited. I can not wait to read some of the outcomes when they are finished. At the moment in year 2 we are developing our writing stamina, as some children are finding it difficult to concentrate whilst writing and are needed lots of encouragement to keep going. Please encourage your child to practice, when you have time too.
This week Maths has been very successful. We have been recapping our number bonds up to: 10, 20 and 100's, and have recently used them to solve related addition problems. Yesterday, the children really enjoyed playing 'ping pong' embedding the skill of doubling numbers and remembering the answers mentally to answer quicker - well done everyone worked a hard at this!
A big well done to: Anya, Alfie, Sophie and Eliza for scoring 10/10
River, Ava and Koby for scoring 9/10
Kaiden, Jake and Jacob for scoring 8/10 in this weeks spelling test. All you children can receive pride points. We are proud of you and your learning! Remember everyone...keep practicing, you can do it!
Many thanks to the children that have always completed some of their homework and have returned it back to school to be marked. I will give out the books again tomorrow so that your child/children can complete the 'English' activity that has been explain within your child/children's homework (purple) diary or has been sent on paper with your child if it wasn't returned on the day homework was given. The children really seem to be enjoying the Abacus maths learning activities to engage with at home - I hope this continues. Many thanks for all your support!
Library books will be changed tomorrow for children who wish to change them with the children not being at school Friday 6th October due to an inset day! lease make sure your child has them in school tomorrow.
A girl in year 2 has lost a black coat, please check that your child has brought home the right coat as we are desperately trying to help find it. If you have any news please let myself or Mrs Elliott know ASAP.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you Eliza for bringing in your Rainbow's badge to share with everyone. You explained well how you received the badge and what you planned on doing with it to keep it safe. If anyone else has anything at home they would like to share, we would love to see and hear all about it!
See you tomorrow Miss Kerry and Mrs Elliott :)
