Welcome back Year 5!

We've had a great first week back in Year 5.  It's been great to see everyone in their new uniforms.

Most children have their PE kits.  If your child hasn't brought theirs to school yet, please make sure they bring it in on Tuesday morning.

This week, everyone got a new reading diary and brought home a reading book.  Please remember to read with your child every day and sign their reading diary, mostly to improve their reading skills but also to help them get into the reading raffle on Friday's Pride assembly.  We already have several children who will go into next week's reading raffle.  Keep reading so that we can enter more children next week!

New spellings will usually be given out on Mondays with our spelling tests being on Fridays.  Due to the INSET day on Monday, your child already has their new spellings so please encourage them to practice over the weekend.  They also have a book to write sentences in to make sure they know what the words mean.  It would be great if children could start using some of these words in their everyday language.

Everyone should also have brought home a homework folder with some pieces of homework in.  This will be due back in on Wednesday.

I hope you have all received this term's newsletter which explains all of this in more details.  Please just ask myself or Mrs Bradbury if you have any questions.

Well done to this week's certificate winner Wesley.  He is always willing to have a go and share his ideas.  It was hard to choose as, like Wesley, so many children have started the year with a great attitude.  Let's hope it's hard to choose next week too!

Enjoy your long weekend and see you all on Tuesday morning.
