Year 4 Make it Morning

Good Evening,

What a lovely 'make it morning' we had in Year 4. Just want to say a massive thank you to all the adults who were able to come and help. I did wonder if we would all fit in the classroom but we did and it was fantastic. The children really enjoyed making Christmas crafts (as did the adults). Making so many things in one morning would not be possible without all the extra helpers and it is greatly appreciated 👍👍👍👍

We had 15 children in the Reading Raffle today let's beat this next week Year 4 - come on we can do
it!!
Have a lovely weekend, sorry if your child has left a glitter trail at home (I have) but well worth it.

Miss. Richardson, Mrs. Manders and Mrs. Peters 😊😊😊😊

Year 4

A big well done to those children who have been on Times Tables Rock Stars this week:
Krzyzstof, Emse, Ellie, Brooke and Jakub.

It really shows in our Math's lessons, the children who are learning their times tables at home (times tables rocks stars or with your help). Remember you can download the app for your phone to let your child play.
Can't wait to see who goes on over the weekend.

Mrs Manders, Miss Richardson and Mrs Peters

Year 2

Wow! what a busy week we have had. Lots of our afternoons are now being used to practise our Christmas concert. The concert for Year 1 and 2 will be on Tuesday 11th December, with a performance in the morning at 10am and afternoon at 2.15pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

We are still having a problem with head lice. A letter will come home today about this too in case you haven't seen the message on the blog..

The children have taken their weekly spelling test today. As a class, the results are a huge improvement on last week. A big congratulations to the children for this. All the children have been given their results.

In our English lessons we have been learning a warning story 'Kassim and The Hungry Fox'. The children are becoming more confident at retelling the story using our class story map. Your child will also come home with a copy of this today. Talk to them about and ask them to tell you the story.

The children are very excited for make it day tomorrow!

Make it day

Do you have any old newspapers ready to put in the recycling?  If so, please send them to school on Thursday so that we can use them to cover and protect our tables ready for make it day.  Thanks!

Year 5 News

Well done to our certificate winner Kian for his progress in PE this week and to Olivia and Neil who received their 25 Pride Point stickers.  Some children are well on their way to 50 Pride Points - I wonder who will get there first.

Our spelling test results were much improved this week.  Thanks for helping your children practice.  They will have a new set of spellings on Monday ready to learn for the test on Friday so please keep encouraging them to learn how to spell these words at home.

The number of children reading each day has been great just recently.  Thanks for helping us with this.  We were really pleased to put our class record of 22 children into the reading raffle on Friday.  Keep reading Year 5 and let's see if we can get even more of you in next week.  Our record for the number of children reading on one day is 27 out of 29 children.  We just need those extra couple of children to read every day to help us reach our elusive target of 100%.  Come on Year 5 - you can do it!

As you know, we practice our times tables regularly and I love to see the children improve.  This week they've been telling me about what they do at home to get that extra bit of practice too.  Kian has been enjoying using Times Tables Rock Stars.  We have 5 children from our class in the top ten on the stats dashboard with Eric at the top of the list!  Who else can have a go at home to help us knock those pesky Year 6 children out of the top ten?  Children all have their log in details in their reading diaries and can log on here: https://ttrockstars.com/login2 . Peyton has also been telling us about some of the games she's played on Fun 4 The Brain.  Have a look and see what maths skills you can improve using all the games available; https://www.fun4thebrain.com/ .  Let us know if you find any fun maths games too so that we can spread the word.

Don't forget to bring your full PE kits on Monday and your swimming kits on Wednesday.  This week the children will need to bring a pair of pyjamas in their swimming bag for an activity the swimming teachers have got planned!

Cross country

A belated update on the cross country competition before half term!  Well done to our runners who look very pleased with their times!

Bowls

Well done to our bowlers who represented the school at the competition on Monday.  They enjoyed receiving their medals in assembly on Friday.

Year 2

Morning, I  Hope you are all having a good weekend.

On Friday, homework was sent out. This needs returning by Wednesday. Please support your child with this and not do it for them.

Unfortunately, the spelling results for the whole class were very poor this week. Your child needs to be learning these at home more often. The spellings related to the spelling patterns that the children are expected to spell my the end of year 2. Fingers crossed for better results this week. Your child's spellings have been stuck in to their reading diary.

This week we had 13 children entered into the reading raffle. This was a great achievement for the class. We are aiming for 20 children this week. It it really important that your child reads at least once over the weekend and every school night.

A few cases of head lice have been reported in the class this week. Please check your child's hair.

Year 2 have started to learn about 'The Great Fire of London'. They are really enjoying this.

We are looking forward to seeing you in school on the morning of Friday 30th November, for make it day.

Mini models

This week in Mini Models we have been learning and talking about how we celebrate birthdays. We used sponges in paint to make prints on balloon shapes on Tuesday. On Wednesday we used lots of glue and tissue paper on a large box to make a colourful present.

With our morning children we have been working on learning how to balance the blocks and make our own structures and towers.

The afternoon children wanted to do some dancing on Wednesday. We put on lots of different songs and enjoyed dancing together.

More photos of the children and activities they have been doing this week.

Well done to our shining stars this week!
