FS1 Update 'Thanksgiving'

What a great week the Foundation Stage 1 children who have been learning about and celebrating the American 'Thanksgiving' national holiday. The holiday commemorates a harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrim Fathers in 1621 and is held in the US on the fourth Thursday in November.
We have done lots of activities based around foods, as this is very much a union of families and friends sharing a feast together, just like 'Christmas day' over here. We have teared and shared bread  together to reinforce the sharing of the harvest and giving thanks as a whole class. The children then worked in groups to taste key 'Thanksgiving' foods, we recorded the  results in a tally chart, looking at representing numbers using marks on paper. We also sorted objects beginning with 'a' for 'America' against ones that do not begin with 'a'.Well done everyone. 😄

The children were very brave trying lots of  new foods and the great news is the winning food taste sensation was 'turkey', so bring on the Christmas dinner, yum, yum!!!

A lovely week from our 'Shining Stars' this week, Rogue and Lucja, well done for for showcasing some lovely imaginary play and sharing.

Congratulations to Lucja for winning this weeks Pride certificate for good drawing and colouring skills, with very strong pencil control and grip, well done.
