Year 2 Tree Planting at Rainbow Park, Shirebrook

This week I was sent this picture from the local paper. Year 2 helped planting trees at Rainbow Park, Shirebrook at the end of last term. It was a very cold day, but regardless the children really enjoyed the experience and was very keen to get involved helping the council.
Well done everyone! The council were very grateful too.

YEAR 3 PE

Just a reminder to ensure all children have their PE for Tuesday 9th January.

Year 6 News

Unfortunately, our spelling scores were not as good as usual this week and lots of children have said they hadn't been learning them at home, which is a shame and they were clearly disappointed. The words the children are expected to spell by the end of KS2 are very difficult and therefore it is extremely important that they learn the spellings, the rules and the meaning of the words, both at school and at home. Children scoring less than 7/10 will be tested again the following week until their scores improve. Giving the children time to learn them, then test them should only take 5-10 mins each day but this time is vital in giving them the confidence and ability to spell accurately in their writing. Hopefully, I'll be able to report that scores were much higher next week. Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs Bush.

Year 2 Homework Project: China

This term Year 2 are learning all about China. As part of their homework task, we would like your child to complete a project related to this topic. Your child has as much freedom as they like! It could be: art based: drawing/ pictures or models, baking, written: poster/ leaflet/ poem. Over the next few weeks your child will begin to learn more about: Chinese culture, traditions and celebrations. The project may be linked to the ‘Signs of the Zodiac,’ ‘Chinese New Year’ or they may want to think about landmarks or buildings within China. There are lots of ideas on the internet to inspire! We are really excited to see the projects you and your child/children produce!
