Year 4 Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Good Evening,

We are sure you probably have some very tired children, that is because we have had such a fabulous, amazing and busy day. All the children have smiled from start to finish and have been a credit to us. We have seen so many beautiful animals in wonderful surroundings.

Year 5 News

This week's golden star, Grace, along with our special mentions and reading raffle winner Boyd.  Get reading over the weekend to be in with a chance of winning next week's raffle.

 

Your children also have some homework to practise speech punctuation again and some work on adding and subtracting fractions.  All children should attempt the bronze section, many will want to tackle the silver section and some will want to give the gold section a go.  Good luck. 

 

Don't forget to have a go on Mathletics too.

 

All children who attended school yesterday were also given their usernames and passwords for Spelling Shed.  This is a website which will give children an extra opportunity to practise their spellings each week.  This week's spellings have been assigned to each child and there are several games to play.  We had a go in class and the children were most excited to play further at home.  At the moment, we are second on the leader board but have a long way to go to catch up with year 2.  Come on Year 5, let's give them a run for their money!  Also at the moment, Grace is in the lead for Year 5 with over 11 million points!  I can see that Alfie, Callum and Sonny have also been playing this weekend to try to improve their scores.  I look forward to seeing the spelling test scores next week.  Those who play most should have the best scores - how many super spellers will we have?

 

And we ended the week with a visit from BMX racer Kelvin who told us his inspirational story of many cold and dark evenings spent at Warsop BMX track in the hopes of winning the BMX world championships one day.  Not only did he win, but he brought his gold medal to show us too.  Don't forget to collect in that sponsor money everyone to try to get your wristbands and also to raise money for sports equipment for school.

Don't forget that sport day has been postponed.  It has provisionally been booked for Tuesday but keep an eye on the weather forecast!  Remember that everyone needs their PE kit in school everyday!

Sports Day Rearranged!

Important Message!

Please note the new rearranged date for Sports Day is Tuesday 25th June 1.15pm the gates will open on to the top field for any supporters to arrive and find a good position. The children will come out at 1.30pm and carry out a short warm up and lap of honour before getting into our competitive event.
Please can we remind all children to bring a top that is a representation of their house colour in school.

Sports Motivator 2019 Kelvin Bately.

This afternoon Model Village has had an Olympic Athlete come to visit...

Kelvin Bately! He is a very local athlete who grew up in Worsop!

  

Kelvin's sport is BMX Racing. We have been very lucky this afternoon to hear all about his journey to becoming an Olympic athlete. The theme 'BEST' ran throughout his presentation this afternoon. Being the best you can be and not giving up! The time is now everyone to decide on something you want to do in life, and take the steps you need to begin that journey! Kelvin said its all about: hard work, fun, dedication, and practise - begin your journey today!

Its been a fun filled afternoon getting to know Kelvin and seeing James again, our Olympic Athlete from last years event. The children all thoroughly enjoyed their time in the hall carrying out their circuit and supporting/ cheering on other classes. Thank you to James for being great at getting the children involved and motivating them! Kelvin chose some children throughout school who he felt were great athletes and who put in lots of effort towards the circuit and rewarded them with wrist bands. A big well done to this group of children for being recognised and a big well done to everyone else for completing your sponsored circuit.

Well done everyone and thank you again for getting involved in this Sponsored event!

Year 1 Celebrations

This afternoon the children have enjoyed getting fit and active in the hall with a visiting Olympic athlete.

Well done to Sienna, Jan, Chloe, Marni, Theo, Molly, Nyla-Jae, Olly N, Casandra and Milly who all achieved full marks in their spelling test this week.

The school is now using Spelling Shed to help the children practise their spellings. I have attached the children's login details to their reading diaries. The children should be able to access games linked to their spellings. If you have any teething problems please let me know and I will try and sort it out.

We had thirteen children enter the reading raffle. Reid, Chloe, Marni, Molly, Rhia,  Sam, Nyla-Jae, Olly N, Soni, Leah-Jayde, Milly, Sienna and Poppy-May.

Well done to Leah-Jayde who was the class golden star this week. She received a certificate for been a supportive and sensible paired work partner during one of our English lessons this week.

Special mentions were also given to Molly, Nyla-Jae, Filip, Casandra, Sienna and Marni for always taking care with the presentation of their work.

Sports day will hopefully take place Tuesday afternoon.
