Year 2 Fire Talk

Last week on Tuesday, before the Beast from the East made an appearance, year 2 had the opportunity to listen and take part in a Fire Talk. A representative from the local fire service came into school to teach the children: the uses of fire, how to keep safe and prevent fires and what do to in case of a fire. The children really enjoyed listening to the information and sharing their knowledge, understanding and experiences they had about fire already. Here are a few pictures from our talk last week (sorry they are a little late, with the weather disruption last week I forgot to update.)

The children discussed what they should do if they caught fire. In groups the practised
STOP, DROP and ROLL.
Ask the children to show you how to do it!

All the children watched and listened to a video about Fire Safety. The children were prompted to ask an adult to check their fire alarms work at home. Did you check yours?
