On Tuesday 17th April, year 2 took part in a Recycling and littering talk. The children really enjoyed learning about what materials can be recycled and how different materials are reused to make new things. The children could not believe that soft plastic bottles could be recycled and used again to make football shirts and fleeces! They also really enjoyed using the litter pickers to sort different items of waste into the appropriate colour bins. I wonder if any children have started helping parents/ carers recycle at home! Get the children involved they really enjoyed it within school. Also throughout the afternoon 'fly tipping' and 'dog messing' topics were discussed and how these can effect the environment.
Following the afternoon we have made our own posters containing information and key messages that we learnt. The children's efforts are great the posters are colourful and eye catching. On Monday next week we hope to have a quiz based upon the information discussed during the afternoon last week. Winning means wheelie bin prizes!
A big thank you to Brett and Martin from BC for their help delivering such an informative afternoon - the children really enjoyed themselves.
Here are a few photographs from the afternoon.
