Notice to parents: Year 2 SAT's Prep

Hello Year 2 parents/carers,

Last week we prepared a SATs schedule and plan of action to prepare the year 2 children for their National SATs Tests in May 2019. As of next week the year 2 children will get familiar with the papers from previous years.
The plan is that from now until the next holidays we take a gradual approach giving the children the opportunity to experience either: Reading, Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar or Maths on a weekly basis. Therefore, in class time, your child will be taking a sample English and Maths test each week. Your child will be supported by a selection of staff members and SATs test techniques will be taught to them in intervention groups. After the next holidays we intend to up the amount of boostering - where possible - and SATs practice in class.
Throughout the week, as of next week,  every child will receive SATs boostering in Maths with Miss Kerry focusing on arithmetic and reasoning problems. Also during the afternoons Mrs Elliott will be taking children out in small groups to booster reading techniques.
We will be sending SATs preparation home, as homework activities, nearer the time. We kindly ask you spend some quality time with your child 1-1 supporting them, if they need with any questions. Remember that it is about encouraging them to complete these activities to build their self -confidence, so that they feel comfortable and are less anxious about the SATs tests in general. We ask for you to talk about the tests in a positive light to reassure the children they are nothing to worry about but at the same time support us by encouraging them to take them seriously and work hard to prepare themselves.

I hope this message helps keep you informed. If anyone has any questions please ask me (I will try my best to answer them) or a member of the leadership team.
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Kerry :)
