Year 3 Update

Welcome back everyone!
What a great week we have had in year 3. The children returned to school with great attendance and a great working attitude. This week we are working to maintain that as well as improve reading numbers entering the reading raffle on Friday.

Well done to the thirteen children who made it in this week: Koby, Sophie, Kenya, Kia, Kaiden, Oscar, Tillie, Anya, Ava, Eliza, River, Tsvetomir and  Alix. we were very lucky to have two out of three book winners this week.

Well done Anya and Sophie!

This week, in English, we have been working hard to learn our text map on the Manchester Ridge Back. We have been focusing on some of the writing features we picked out in our tool kit. This week Ava won the certificate for thinking of super similes. Well done Ava, keep up the good work.

In Maths this week, its has been a consolidating week. Which the children approached very well. At home remember your child/ children can log into Timetable Rockstars to improve their times table fluency and pace.

In Geography, we have been learning about the Continents of the World. Focusing in on Europe this week. We have learnt the names and properties of the Continents and European Countries names through song. Here are the links we used that the children really enjoyed.

To finish the week we experimented with colour mixing and studied George Seurat's style 'pointellism.' The children really enjoyed beginning pieces of art work on Friday. Here are some pictures of their efforts.

We are really looking forward to seeing the final pieces!
