Year 1 RE

In RE with Mrs Brooks this term we will be looking at religious stories and the messages they try to teach us. Today we looked at the story of the 'Good Samaritan'. First, we learnt a story map. Then, we talked about what the story was trying to teach us and the children came up with some great ideas on how they could be kind to each other. We also talked about how we can still be kind to someone even if we don't get along - just like the Good Samaritan did. After that, we made and decorated origami houses and our own Good Samaritan and injured man. This was to remind us to remember the message - be kind to your neighbour! Check out some of our creations!

We then had a go at 'Kindness Yoga!'. We did the mountain pose (where you had to think how you could be kind to yourself), the 'Warrior Pose' (where you had to think about how to be kind to each other) and the 'Tree Pose' (where you had to think about how we could be kind to the environment). Some of the children really concentrated and had some wonderful, thoughtful ideas. Look at our poses below. What concentration :-)!

I can't wait to hear about all the kind things you have done when I see you all next week. Maybe you could keep a 'kindness diary' telling me all the lovely things you have done to be kind to your family and friends. See you all next week :-).
