Year 2 News

Our certificate for the final week of term goes to Tyler Fritchley. He puts so much effort and engages with every aspect of his education. He has a great 'love for learning!' Well done Tyler, keep it up!

Many thanks to Tyler's family, who joined us at the last assembly of this half term to celebrate his success! :)

In Maths last week we were learning about properties of 2D shapes. The children can talk about their properties much more confidently now. We learnt that there are different types of triangles and their names. Many children can recognise right angles in 2D shapes and can explore to see if a shape tessellates.

Tyler and Bugsy below challenged themselves to see if they could tessellate two shapes practically after completing their individual work. Well done boys, keep working hard!

We have also been working extremely hard in English creating our very own Autumnal Poem. Throughout the unit of work we went on an Autumnal walk around school and read and chanted many Autumn poems to think about the language used. Also we magpie'd some of our favourite words and phrases as well as thinking deeper about some of the features different poems used. The children each then decided which features they would like to attempt using within their poems. Some children used: repeating words and phrases, alliteration, adverbs, colour/ black or white and decided how to lay out their own Shape poem effectively. The children really enjoyed drafting and publishing their poems independently. Here are some of the children's lovely pieces of work. We hope you like them...

Enjoy the rest of October Half Term, keep safe and see you all back in school on Monday 30th October.
Miss Kerry, Mrs Elliott and Miss Honeybun :)
