Sports Report!

This week at Model we have had a busy Sporting week...

On Tuesday, 16 children throughout Key stage 2, represented our school at Cross Country. Well done to Ajay, Igor, Alfie-Lee, Jordan, Mia, Phoebe, Libby, Teagan, Blake, Sonny, Stan, Bray, Grace, Millie, Ellie and Laura - it was a cold and dark night but you showed commitment and tried your best so thank you!
Huge congratulations to the Year 3/4 Boys and the Year 3/4 Girl teams that won this round of the Cross Competition... two more to go throughout the year! Also a big well done to our running individuals: Ajay 2nd place in year 5/6 boys, Phoebe 1st place in Year 5/6 girls, Bray for 3rd place in year 3/4 boys and Grace Buxton 3rd place in year 3/4 girls.
A big thank you shout out to the parents that supported school and helped transport the children to this event!
Cross country club has paid off giving you all a confidence that you can do it and built your stamina in preparation for this round! Lets keep it up! Thank you to those children that were called upon too.

On Thursday, some of our Key stage 1 children had chance to get sporty. The children completed a  Cross Country event hosted by our school. Thank you to all the parents that came along to support the children! Despite the weather being extremely cold the children tried their very best and didn't give up. Our Key stage 1 children performed fantastically... Well done to all involved. A special mention to Junior and Koby who came 1st and 2nd in the boys race. Also to Sophie, Kia-Mae and Miya who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd. An excellent performance!

Then after school we had a group of 18 children attend the Academy for Year 5/6 Sports Hall Athletics. Without the support of staff and parents transporting the children to and from this event, the children wouldn't have had this opportunity...but I am so glad they did! The children performed brilliantly and were all so supportive and encouraging of each other. They worked so well as a team that we secured 2nd place in the Large Schools competition. This means we go through to the County Finals in the New Year! The only school within our cluster to get through, so lets get practicing those baton take overs and board turns to represent the Shirebrook cluster!

Thursday evenings very proud team.
