Year 5 News

Well done to our readers this week.  We have had a massive improvement in the number of children who have read each day recently.  At the beginning of the year, we often had only 14 children who had read but in recent weeks, we have had over 20.  This week, we have had over 25 each day with our record day being Thursday where 27 out of 29 children read!  Keep up the reading Year 5.  Can we make it 100% next week?

Unfortunately, the children haven't put as much effort into practicing their spellings as they have with their reading.  We only had 3 super spellers this week.  We will have to keep the same spellings into next week and I hope the children apply the can do attitude from their reading to learning their spellings.  They could have an extra practice over the weekend so the week begins with a head start.  Well done to Oskar, Julia and Lily for getting all 10 spellings correct this week!

We've been preparing for our class assembly on Wednesday.  Your child should have their lines to practice which they will read out in the assembly.  Many children already know what they have to say as they have written it themselves but we would appreciate it if you could give them a hand if they are struggling.  We hope you can make it on Wednesday morning.  I'll post an exact time early next week.
