Year 5 News

Wow! What a busy week!  Not only did we win the transition award this week, we also worked hard to win the attendance award!  Our first star on the chart.  Can we get another next week?

In assembly, Krzysztof won our certificate, with Ellie and Missy getting special mentions.  We had lots of children in the reading raffle too.

On Monday, Demi-Jo, Brooke, Ruby and Ellie got their Mathletics certificates.  So far this week, Finlee, Logan, Brooke and Ellie have already earned their certificates.  Remember, we have until Sunday evening to earn 1000 points and a certificate!

Look who got full marks on the spelling test!

What else have we been up to?

On Wednesday, we took part in an African dance workshop as part of Black History month.

And lots more children have done their presentations to the class about natural disasters.

In Maths, we have completed our unit on place value so this week's Mathletics homework is a revision of lots of different place value activities.  Next week, we move on to addition and subtraction.

Next week, we also have bikeability planned.  Children should have brought home a note saying which days they are taking part.  On Monday and Wednesday, it will be - Lexie, Bray, Roxanne, Ryan, Finlee, Ellie, Caleb, Logan H, Corey, Missy, Ruby and Rocco.  On Wednesday and Thursday, it will be - Tydan, Kira, Riley, Jamaine, Lilly, Laura, Alfie, Logan T, Amber, Jakub, Kadie, Frankie and Krzysztof.  Children will need to bring their bikes and helmets on the right days (unless you have requested to borrow them).  Please send your child to school in uniform as normal but be aware that they will be spending a lot of time outdoors.  They may want to bring a change of clothes for the cycling part of the day.  If rain is forecast, please send a change of clothes so that children can put dry clothes on when they are not cycling.  Monday will still be swimming day so all children will need their kit.  The days that your child is taking part in cycling will be busy, active days.  I remember the children last year being shattered by the end of the day so a good night's sleep and a good breakfast are recommended!

Thanks to all the parents who have been to see me for a parent teacher interview this week.  I'm looking forward to seeing some more of you on Wednesday.  I still have a few appointments on Wednesday if you haven't made an appointment yet.  It would be great to see as many parents as possible!
