Year 2 Pride Assembly

Well done to Sophie and Tillie for achieving their 25 Pride Points stickers this week. Keep up the good work!
I wonder who will achieve this in year 2 next week?

Also a huge 'well done' to Harvey for achieving his 25 Pride Point sticker as well as being our certificate winner this week. Harvey created a fantastic story map in English with very good ideas. It was lovely to see him be so proud of something, so this week he just had to be our year 2 winner!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, and see you next week! Miss Kerry :)

Stand up Bolsover in Year 2!

We have had a fun filled active learning day in year 2 today! We began our day by completing an active register, followed by a wake and shake Zumba session 'We like to move it, move it!'

We made our Maths active, practicing our times tables in pairs and small groups.

And played a treasure chest game, where the children were active and needed to show good team work, whilst consolidating: estimating, counting and ordering number skills.

The children were fully engaged in the activities and worked brilliantly.

In English, we are now learning the story 'Meerkat Mail, By Emily Gravett.'

The main character Sunny made a visit to our school and he was hiding in different places around school. Our children had the job of locating him in 6 different places before going back to the classroom to discuss the reasons why the children thought Sunny would like and dislike the places he was found - in preparation for next week.

Throughout the day we also got involved in a variety of physical actives and games. We had house races in the hall, got active on our school Trim trail and played 'Tiggy scarecrow' following our Harvest Festival Assembly.

Thank you everyone for a lovely day! We hope you enjoyed it too!
Miss Kerry and Mrs Elliott :)

Stand Up Bolsover 2017!

Thank you to all children, staff and parents who were all involved in making Stand Up Bolsover 2017 a great success at Model Village.

From start to finish the children had endless active learning opportunities throughout the day! Some children chose to ride or cycle their way to school today on their scooters and bikes - which were then kept secure until the end of the school day!

The school day began by Key stage 2 having the opportunity to get active with Miss Kerry and Miss Whysall in a Zumba session from 8.15-8.50am. Well done to all that came, you started your day well!

We also sent a voice message to Clare and Shane (from the School Sports Partnership and Bolsover Council) to say 'Good Luck!' on their active day. Clare and Shane planned to run to all the schools taking part in 'STAND UP BOLSOVER 2017!' throughout the day.

At playtime and lunchtime children were encouraged to be active to celebrate the day! Some children enjoyed exploring equipment in any safe and active way.

Where as some children wanted to get active by taking part in Table Tennis and Zumba at lunchtime. We had a fun filled lunchtime today, and the children were an absolute pleasure to spend my lunchtime with!

Clare and Shane arrived at Model Village around 1.10pm and were welcomed with drinks, chairs (to take a short rest) and a short 'Model Village Motivational message', recorded by a group of children! The message read... 'You're nearly there Clare and Shane, you can do it! True Model Village style!
Clare and Shane both said it was one of the best welcomes they had had into a school throughout the day. Well done everyone!

At 1.15pm the whole school came together to perform our school dance 'Megan Trainor: Better when I'm dancing.' As always the efforts were great from all: children, staff and visitors, so thank you very much! Clare then talked for a short time to the children about the day, the importance of keeping active and what her and Shane had been doing and where they had been to celebrate SUB17!

Many thanks again to all involved. Another great sporting opportunity embraced at Model Village Primary School - we are so proud of you! I wonder how many children were tired and ready for bed last night? Or how many children needed a lay in this morning after their active day yesterday? Miss Kerry :)

Active Maths

As part of our Stand Up for Bolsover day, in Year 6 we made our maths lesson a little bit more active today. We took part in a problem solving treasure hunt based around measures. Thankfully, there was no algebra involved! The Year 6 were all pleased about this!

Well done Riley and Tia

At long last we have a winner of The Reading Raffle! Well done to Riley who, after reading all week, has won himself a new book to read.

Also a big well done to Tia for winning the class certificate this week. She deserved it as those algebraic equations were really tough!

Year 5 Certificate Winners
