"Happy Roald Dahl Day" from Y2...

First of all a huge thank you to parents/carers and our children for being so enthusiastic to dress up and come to school as one of the 'Roald Dahl' book characters. The children looked fantastic, so thank you to everyone involved for making such an effort with costumes!

In year 2 we had a lovely day...we began the day reading 'The giraffe, the pelly and me' one of our year 2 books. Then became window cleaners, just like the characters in the  book, to learn and perform 'The giraffe, the pelly and me' poem. We even used cleaning cloths which the children were very excited about. After a little more practice we hope to share our hard work with the school by performing it in an assembly.

Billy, one of the main characters in the story, had a dream to own 'The Grubber' sweet shop. So we each pretended to be Billy and design our own type of sweet to sell in 'The Grubber.' However our sweets were no ordinary sweets - they were magical, if any children dare to try any of year 2's sweets something might happen to them. But what...?

The 'rockstar' sweet could make your hair stand on end...
The 'rainbow cube' could make your body turn rainbow colours...
The 'red bean' will make your mouth explode and you could breath fire forever...
The 'flower power' sweet will turn the clothes you are wearing into a dress with flower print all over.

Which dare you try? :)

In the afternoon, we had chance to show everyone in the school our costumes in assembly and watched a live streaming of 'Roald Dahl day' around the world.

We hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

Look out for pictures of displayed work in 'The Grubber' soon!
