Year 2 Harvest Festival Work

Today we have been talking about the Harvest Festival Celebration. What it is. How it is celebrated, and why we celebrate it. Ask your children all about it, it would be great to hear what they have learnt. On Monday we began our Harvest Festival preparation by looking at different types of fruit and cutting them open to see what they looked like inside. We then created some observational drawing/ painting of the fruits thinking carefully about pattern, shape and colours. Here are some of the beautiful pieces of art work they created. Can you tell what they are?

And today we have used a variety of different fruits to make milkshakes and smoothies. We did this to show that once fruits are harvested, they can be used further to make other things to eat and drink as well as be eaten in its purest form. Here are a few photographs from our afternoon...

Ask your children what the milkshakes and smoothies tasted like and what fruits they could taste?
